This is what I have been working on. Two rings. One will be large enough to be considered a "statement ring" and will cover two knuckles. The stone is beautiful - deep and moody like a nebula. The other ring is smaller and the stone is a natural amber colored drusy. It's not a flashy drusy but rather a calm one. I bought it many years ago and loved it's nature. Maybe it's because it reminds me that even the quiet people of the world can be lions - they just have to "be brave". I stamped that and sweat soldered it to the back of the band. Just a little reminder to the world of silent types - a private message that the wearer can run their thumb across.
And while I was working at the bench someone snuck onto my spot on the couch. Good thing there are more chairs around the front room.

I'd love to see the front of "be brave" and I have a question about the larger stone ring. Are you going to saw any excess back plate off now? Or are you leaving it square? I've never left that much around a back plate before sawing it to nearly the size I wanted it. Just wondering! Would love to see them both finished.
I usually do not leave that much around a back plate when I solder down a bezel and yes - it's going to be sawed out like the other one since it's a ring. Since I cast and you can use scrap in your casting grain I don't get to crazed when all I have a piece that's larger than I'd like.
I also save the flat scrap from sawing off the backing. I'll cut off the tips or pointy ends to ball up or cast with. And keep the larger pieces for smaller things like the backing for tubes (think leather end caps), stampings, and what not.
Anything after that gets returned to Rio for scrap but generally I don't generate as much of that as it looks like.
I'll post as soon as they're set and polished.
I want to see them finished too. Question: Is there anything you can't do?
